Let the kids play their games.

I had a very difficult time trying to get this young wrestler to pose for pictures. With specific lighting laid out and a clear idea in mind, I found I could not get the pose I had planned. I wanted a vertical picture with the subject in his wrestling stance. He however had plans to show me how he could do cart wheels and how fast he was.

After several minutes of trying in vain to coax him to stay in the designated spot and tears of frustration on my part about to fall. I finally remembered I need to help guide him to what he wanted to do in a way that works. I say, "you've shown me how fast you are, but are you strong?"

And CLICK.

I never got the photo I planned and I hope I never do. As a photographer, it is not for me to create a moment or an attitude, but to record one.
